Vore Buffalo Jump in Crook County, Wyoming (click here for more info)

This is a natural sinkhole used by the late prehistoric Plains Indians as a bison trap. Buffalo were driven over the edge of the pit, which was deep enough to kill or disable the animals. This secured the large quantities of meat and hides needed for winter. The pit is estimated to contain the remains of 20,000 buffalo.
